We are a group of 20 Explorer Scouts and 5 leaders from three different units - The Roughs, Hungry Hill and Downs Link. During one of our committee meetings, we were trying to decide on a place to go for our next district venture.

We had almost decided on the Isle of Wight, when Hillary (aka. 'Robert's Mum') piped up with "How about Nepal?"

It all started from there! The arrangements were made for treks up Everest, and twenty Explorers put their names down as being interested.

We have all been contributing to raising money by helping out at the Ripley Farmer's Market, selling teas and coffees on the second Sunday of every month, for which we are kindly granted a free pitch.

A vital part in preparation for our trek is increased fitness. Spectrum have generously given us reduced rates at their gym in Guildford, so we can all get fit for the event. We have been advised to go weekly, and even have a fitness regime to follow.

We have been doing many activities as a group in order for us to meet and befriend the people we are going with. After all - we will be spending three weeks together, it's crucial we are all on good terms! Activities include meetings every month, hikes, group trips to the gym and the Ripley Farmers' Market.
